Foundation Grants

The Alberni Valley Community Foundation currently makes grants from the Community Fund once a year. The first stage is a letter of enquiry, directed to the Grants Committee. This must be received by January 15. Qualifying charities then receive an application form.

Please note that grants are usually in the $500 to $5,000 range.

Areas that the foundation supports are:

  • Arts & Culture
  • Education
  • Health & Physical Activity
  • Social Services
  • Environment

The foundation will consider requests from registered charities for;

  • Program-related projects (i.e., specific, time-limited activity or a series of activities designed to meet certain goals)
  • Capital projects, including construction, renovation or equipment purchases.

Among those who have received support from the foundation:

Family Guidance Association, Youth Health Centre, Supported Training and Employment Program, Bread of Life, Beaver Creek Elementary PAC, Hilton Centre, Family Health Centre, New Horizon Centre, Alberni Valley Hospice Society, Friendship Lodge, Community Arts Council, the Abbeyfield Houses Alberni Valley Society.

Families, organizations, institutions and corporations often choose to establish a Named Fund or indicate a field of interest to which their investment income is directed. Organizations see the added benefit of professional administration guaranteeing a steady return to help with operating costs, programs or a scholarship fund. A representative of the foundation would be pleased to discuss such arrangements with you or your group.
